The Company has valuable merchant resources of iron ore and manganese ore in Jharkhand and Odisha, which are available for sale in the open market. These mines represent ‘textbook deposits’, which is the industry’s way of saying that they represent an ideal balance of unmistakable ore evidence, ore richness and easy accessibility (low mine–strip ratio).

The Company has six manganese ore mines in Odisha and one iron ore mine in Jharkhand. The complement of manganese ore and iron ore deposits – a rare combination– positions the Company among the few leading global mining firms. The Company’s strategy centres around optimum exploitation of the wealth inherent in its mines, that ensure value addition, utilization of waste/ rejects for value maximization and infrastructure creation for the long term and sustainable cost benefits.

In addition to the own mines of OMML, the Company had entered into a Joint Venture (JV) with M/s. B. C. Dagara, the lessee of Suleipat iron mine. Suleipat iron ore mine is located at Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj District of Odisha. The mine is spread over an area of 618 hectares.
